Live action footage of a completely automated operation details how an egg moves from the chicken to the
carton.
Delvin Barrett, president of FeatherCrest Farms, discusses nutrition, housing and environmental control
for his laying hens. Watch the eggs as they roll down onto the main line, are washed, “candled,” sorted by
weight, placed into their packing containers and prepared for shipment.
Observe the assembly-line process where metal claws pick up and transport the fragile eggs to their
cartons. Sanitation and health concerns are also addressed.
